Speaker: Jonathan Lack - "The Four Key Phases of Turning Around a Business'

Jonathan H. Lack is a serial entrepreneur and turnaround specialist. He grew up working holidays and summers in a second-generation family owned retail business. Lack’s brother transitioned the now 85-year old multi-generational family business into a family office and later into a standalone entity, Galapagos Partners, a commercial multi-family office where Jonathan is Director of Special Projects. He is also the Principal of ROI Ventures, a consulting practice specializing in strategic planning.

Jonathan is a C-level general management executive with extensive experience in developing, expanding and turning around start-up and mid-cap companies. He has over 25 years of post-MBA experience in management and strategic planning, focusing primarily on consumer product and services companies. His has worked with and for companies of all sizes (e.g. start-ups, mid-size, and Fortune 500) in a variety of industries (e.g. financial services, food & beverage, information services, healthcare, Internet, manufacturing, retail and telecom).

Jonathan is a proven executive of turnarounds with expertise in improving employee morale/turnover, margins, marketing, M&A due diligence, product development & management, project management, revenue growth and strategic planning. His most recent large turnaround project was a two-year stint as president of Al’s Formal Wear.

Jonathan earned a BA in Middle East Studies from the University of California at Berkeley, a Master's in International Relations from Johns Hopkins University's School for Advanced International Studies (SAIS) and an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business.

Jonathan is the author of Plan to Turn Your Company Around in 90 days published by Apress in 2013.

About the Houston, TX Chapter

The Houston chapter is chaired by Andrew Jowett and meets on the 2nd Tuesday of every month between 6-8pm in the Galleria area (at the Marriott hotel, 1750 West Loop South).

The purpose of the monthly meeting is to
1) Network with other members
2) Allow members to practice their ‘Elevator’ speech in a friendly environment
3) Provide contacts and ideas for further networking
4) Ensure that new members understand the resources available for jobseekers in the Houston area (e.g faith-based church ministries, chapter and SIG meetings).

The Houston chapter currently has over 1,500 members.

All members and prospective members are welcome!

The Woodlands chapter (see separate chapter page) meets every 4th Wednesday of the month between 7.15am-9am at One Hughes Landing Conference Center, 1800 Hughes Landing, The Woodlands, TX 77380. The co-chairs of the chapter are Bryan Valencia and Jim Anderson.

The Katy chapter meets between 7.30am-9.15am at the Fellowship Church, 22765 Westheimer Parkway. Meetings are generally the 3rd Thursday of the month but check their chapter page for specific dates. The co-chairs of the chapter are Steve Elliott and Dave Sheehan.

The Energy and Natural Resources SIG covers both traditional oil and gas (E & P, R & M, Pipeline and Transportation) as well as Power (utilities, etc.) The SIG meets on the first Wednesday of each month at Cafe Express, 1101 Uptown Boulevard between 7am-9am (Galleria area).
