Topic: Understanding Business Valuation Basics and Value Drivers

Speaker: John G. Mack, Managing Member of Mack Business Appraisals, LLC.

In the presentation, we will touch on the following topics:
- What are the advantages to knowing the value of your business?
- Business Valuation Basics - An overview of the three primary approaches to valuing any business.
- The importance of using a business appraisal to develop a successful succession plan for an owner.
- Other uses and benefits of a business appraisal for your business.

Speaker’s bio:
John G. Mack, ASA, MCBA, ABAR, is the managing member of Mack Business Appraisals, LLC. He is a 1993 graduate of the University of Iowa with a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from the College of Business Administration. Mr. Mack has over 25 years of full-time business valuation experience and is a specialist in business appraisals for gift tax, estate tax and income tax purposes. He provides business valuation services to clients for many purposes including, but not limited to: gift tax and estate tax filings, ESOPs, Small Business Administration (SBA) funding, merger/acquisitions, buy/sell agreements, S-corporation election, stock option granting and management planning. Mr. Mack’s valuation practice is a national practice as he regularly provides business valuation services to companies located all across the United States.


About the Phoenix, AZ Chapter

With 546 members, the FENG Phoenix chapter is continuing to provide support, mentorship, and networking opportunities in the metropolitan Phoenix area. The active membership is comprised primarily of former CFOs among a broad base of industries.

2020 Meeting Schedule: We generally meet the 1st Tuesday afternoon of each month. Exceptions: summer hiatus in July and August, and November is the 2nd Tuesday.

Mark R. Johnson, MBA, brings more than 39 years of diverse financial and operational experiences from closely held small and medium size entities to large public companies serving as a CFO, CPA, and a Project Consultant. His background includes Senior Manager with a Big 4 public accounting firm, senior management positions with several Fortune 500 retailers, as the chief financial officer for a family owned $250 million retailer and two startup ventures here in Arizona as the chief accounting officer. Recently he served as the Project Lead Consultant on Sarbanes-Oxley internal controls documentation and testing for several casinos in Las Vegas and a $2 billion equipment leasing company in Scottsdale. He has also instructed accounting and auditing courses for post graduate students at schools such as Arizona State University and Western International University locally.

As a partner with B2B CFO® for the past nine years he has served small family owned business owners in diverse industries including, construction, healthcare, education, hospitality, variable print media, food manufacturing and auto glass repair with bank financing, budgeting strategic planning, due diligence and IT software integration. Mark is a Certified Business Transition Expert™ working with business owners that need assistance and a plan to exit from their business now or in the future.
