September 6, 2018 – John Gillen – “Don’t Reinvent Yourself! How to Reconfigure Your Experience Now for the Future of Finance” - Bethlehem Lutheran Church - Ridgewood, NJ

PRESENTATION DESCRIPTION:
The Finance profession is going through a revolution as businesses transform form financial capital-intense industrial companies to more nimble innovative digital enterprises. Oftentimes, older job seekers are told to “reinvent” themselves after a certain age but a much smarter strategy is to “reconfigure” your experience for the new kind of work opportunities in the emerging digital economy. This presentation shows how experienced senior financial executives must rethink about their work, profession and skills and how to reconfigure their experience to make them more attractive for the new kinds of work opportunities available now. The presenter will then show how he has helped reconfigure a corporate finance executive’s resume to make that FENG member’s resume more attractive to current marketplace trends and senior finance work opportunities.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
By the end of this presentation, participants will learn:
1) what is the difference between the old world and the new world of work.
2) why the Finance profession is at the front lines of change in the digital revolution and how senior financial executives must use that position to lead their organizations in the new world.
3) how finance executive must reimagine their ideas about their work, their profession, their careers and their role in organizational life to continue to be able to contribute in the new digital world of work.
4) what finance professionals can do to reconfigure their own corporate experiences in such a way as to make them more attractive as candidates to the new and emerging kinds of senior financial executive work that companies need right now.
