The Director of Finance reports to the CFO (in Canada) and will manage the divisional day to day accounting functions. As a CPA and/or MBA, together with 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, you are currently in a Controller or Director of Finance role, reporting to a #1 financial leader of a publicly traded company. Our client has operations in Michigan, California and Florida and other states, with their head office location in Toronto, Canada. Our client is open to the Director of Finance being located in one of the three states mentioned above or, is open to relocating an ideal candidate.

Key Areas of Focus:

§  Work with the CFO to assess current financial systems, analyze, and recommend critical fully integrated accounting software; lead implementation of financial data and tools if required;

§  Monthly, quarterly and annual financial statement consolidations for four divisions;

§  Budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, financial reporting, working with divisional business leaders and the Executive team; assist CFO with CSE, OSC reporting, shareholder and investor reporting, board packages, G.A.A.P., IFRS, excise tax compliance for import/export, evaluate current dashboard reporting and revise if appropriate; 

§  Proficiency in all aspects of corporate accounting and all pertinent SEC rules and regulations;

§  Ensures compliance with federal, multi-state and local legal financial requirements by consistently researching existing and new financial legislation, will consult with outside advisors, and file appropriate financial reports;

§  Advise CFO and the leadership team of actions and potential risks.

§  Manage the audit process as required and appropriate including per state tax compliance.

§  Manage the divisional budget processes for all divisions and control expenses effectively.

§  Manage the day to day financial operations including: internal controls, financial reporting, KPI reporting, financial planning, accounts payable/accounts receivable, billing systems and all other divisional accounting functions

§  Work with the CFO to analyze and report the financial performance per division to the leadership team on financial performance, projections and other special projects as required

§  Develop, implement and maintain accounting and administrative policies and procedures for a wide-ranging set of activities including financial accounting and reporting, financial/accounting employee relations hiring, mentoring, managing, and terminating when required in accordance with Company policies;


You must have experience with all key areas mentioned above including public company experience with advanced skills in performing financial modeling and analysis.

§ M&A experience preferred but not required. Experience in high growth stage company is required.

§ A CPA and or/MBA is absolutely required; Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting

§ Strong leadership, technology, analytical and communication skills

§ Knowledge of and aptitude for current regulatory and compliance practices
