Follow-Through Architecture as a Pillar of Value Creation
This is what we will discuss.
Every PE-backed leadership team has participated in a genuinely good session discussing pricing changes, access to clean data, operational improvement, or add-on acquisitions, for example. They present the slides. Explain the new expectations. Everyone nods with impressive strategic enthusiasm.
Then Monday arrives. The expected changes rarely stick.
There are three distinct steps of change management:
Habit is what survives six weeks later, under deadline pressure, after the executive sponsor has turned to the next crisis and nobody is watching.
Most transformation efforts pour their resources into strategy and assume behavior and habit will take care of themselves.
They do not.
Behavior becomes habit when it is repeated, noticed and reinforced quickly enough that the old way does not quietly reclaim the territory.
