How to Implement Difficult Change to Survive and Succeed

“Adapt or die” is a frequently quoted Leadership principle. It’s imperative when dealing with the business environment we face now. The Insights industry is experiencing exponential and unpredictable shifts in client expectations, economic forecasts, and an AI/technology runaway train.

Pay attention, and you see two common responses - businesses that are pivoting, thinking creatively, and doing whatever is necessary to survive, and those that are hiding, waiting, or frozen in fear. Which camp you belong to depends on some essential skills and ways of thinking, and willingness to make difficult changes.

Some changes are more complex than others to implement. Human beings are wired to resist change, and research has shown a continuum of likely responses when people are confronted with the need to do things differently.

Fortunately, the last 12 years of brain science research have discovered we can teach an old dog new tricks! Our brains have more plasticity than scientists initially thought – the key is to appreciate the steps our brains need to go through to adopt changes in behavior, responses, and thought patterns. Leaders need to understand how to make themselves and their organizations change-ready to quickly adapt to an ever-changing business environment.

You will learn how to:

- Approach Difficult Change as leaders
- Identify the difference between Minor, Mind-Bending, and Mind-Blowing change efforts
- Recognize and overcome resistance
- Identify Outrageously Important Behavioral Goals and understand why they are critical to successful change

About Susan B. Vogel

Susan Vogel, Founder of SB Vogel Consulting, is a business consultant, strategist, and change facilitation coach. Her passion is helping individuals and businesses take control of their success, often by supporting them to get unstuck and out of their own way. Susan is an active listener whose goal is to positively impact her clients professionally and personally. She is tenacious in her approach, a creative problem solver, and an astute diagnostician. Her superpower is making difficult change simple for her clients, utilizing a robust diagnostic process and a neuroscience-based coaching model. The result is identifying why her clients do what they do, and it’s never what they think!

An experienced leader and consultant, she consistently helps people hone in on what is important to them and guides them on how to achieve it. Susan is skilled in helping individuals, teams, and organizations implement behavioral change that enables them to achieve their strategic objectives. She helps clients implement difficult change through their behaviors – how they do their jobs, think, respond, and adapt. She pragmatically applies knowledge of the brain science behind changing behaviors for her clients.

A large focus of her practice is CEO’s, C-suite executives and business owners who need to up their leadership game and navigate difficult and often messy interpersonal challenges, hold people accountable, and inspire followship. Susan often serves as a trusted advisor while guiding her clients to push outside their comfort zones and make significant changes in how they react, respond, make decisions, and communicate.

Susan uses advanced, validated science-based principles, models, and tools to get individuals to successfully adopt difficult change. This approach applies neuroscience principles to behavior-based change acquisition. She focuses on behaviors, not personality traits, as behaviors can be modified, learned, or discontinued when they don’t serve us. The model enables Susan and her clients to navigate a wide range of challenging obstacles to achieve sustainable desired outcomes. And, the changes are sustainable, becoming the new unconscious thinking habits.

Susan held several senior management positions at Alcoa, led two transformative enterprise-wide change initiatives, and has been a consultant with Partners in Performance Consulting LLC and Key Change Institute. She is certified in Key Change Institute’s Applied Neuroscience Change Acquisition Process.
