Presenter - Cynthia Nesser

ESG and the CFO’s Role.  The CFO must be a major player in the ESG plan for it to be a value proposition.  A strong ESG plan must link to value: growth, reduction in costs, productivity in the workplace, better allocation of funds, improved analysis of M&A should all be key elements in the value plan. A full analysis of current ESG conditions and relevant costs is required to then create a one-year, three-year, and five-year strategic ESG plan.  The Executive Team, lead by the CEO, will drive the plan as a whole.  Once the plan is complete, branding and marketing can incorporate highlights for a public report.

Cynthia Nesser is the owner of C1 Create, a successful business marketing and litigation support consultancy based in Houston and New Orleans. For almost 30 years, the firm has provided presentation assistance, media and evidence management services to both plaintiff and defense attorneys engaged in major commercial, industrial, consumer, and injury litigation. She also assists clients with business plans, pitch books, and proposals. Project management, editing, public relations, press releases, media coordination, and other key services.

Cynthia worked on her first conservation and sustained-yield project in the 90s and has continued such work with a passion. Coordinating with government officials, scientists, experts, public and private entities, and the press on conservation and ESG projects is a primary interest.

As an honor graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University, Cynthia serves on the Board of the Southeastern Louisiana University Foundation having recently completed two-years’ service as Board President. She now serves as the Governance Chair and on the Philanthropy Committee.

Additionally, Cynthia serves as a Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Arizona Sustainability Alliance, a non-political group that seeks to promote sustainability through environmental projects which also promote social justice.  Using cutting-edge technology in areas like food systems, renewable energy and conservation workforce training, AZSA is a leader in the field of Sustainability.

Active in nature conservation projects, Cynthia is currently assisting in the publishing a book about a nature easement in Central Texas. She also works with other conservation and wildlife projects throughout the Southwest.

As President of the Board of Directors of SciArt Exchange, she leads an innovative nonprofit that offers multi-disciplinary, STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) contests, creative events, consulting, training, and community resource services to support science and technology education, collaboration, and innovation worldwide. SciArt is a recent recipient of the of Blue Origin’s Club for the Future $1 million grant award.

Having served as Chairman of the Board and an active board member of several charities, her experience with the many challenges that boards face provides critical insight in addressing those issues.
