Topic: How to manage the risks of fraud under certain levels of inflation/devaluation
Speaker: Fernando Gamiz, BDO Director, Forensic Services
The presentation will include the findings of a recent research about corporate fraud in Argentina and management expectations about the level of frauds in 2014. It will include a comparison of the findings with an international study produced by ACFE. Fernando will also explain why usually honest people do bad things and concepts of occupational fraud. Finally he´ll present a model for Fraud Risk Management based in prevention, detection and response, and provide tips or quick wins to reduce the organization´s exposition to fraud risk. He will also provide a self assessment model that the participants could apply to their companies.
Fernando Gámiz’s bio:
Mr. Gámiz has extensive international experience in fraud investigations and risk management, compliance with international regulations including FCPA, UKBA, SOX y AML. Internal auditing and risk management. He has conducted over 300 investigations in Argentina, as well other Latin America countries, USA and Africa. He also has served as expert witness before arbitration tribunals and investigations committees, as well as advisor in disputes.
