Speaker: Steve Ainsworth, Retired Major General, USA

Presentation:
Leveraging his extensive military and banking industry experience,  Steve is going to provide a geo-political overview about the current state of the macroeconomy as well as discuss current Ukraine and Middle East events, and how they are impacting economic activity here and abroad.  

Speaker's bio: Steve Ainsworth
Steve retired from military service after over 42 years. He was a Soldier/Citizen serving in the National Guard/Army Reserve while also working a corporate banker. His degrees include a Bachelor of Science (with Honors) and Master of Business Administration (with Honors) from the University of Southern Mississippi. He also holds a Graduate Degree in Banking from Louisiana State University and a Master in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College.
 

His banking career has involved financing of numerous corporate entities, mergers/acquisitions and specialized financing situations. He originally worked for Deposit Guaranty Bank (now Regions) for 16 years in a range of roles, mainly related to corporate lending. He was a commercial lender at SunTrust Bank (now Truist) and Wells Fargo. Thereafter, he worked 11 years helping expand Fifth Third’s corporate lending in Middle Tennessee. He then helped start the Cadence Bank Lending Group in Nashville.

 

Starting as an enlisted Soldier (E-1), his military career included commanding as a General Officer (GO) commander four times in a row. He commanded the 94th Division for over two years, then the 7th Mission Command (overseas) for a year. Thereafter, as a Major General, he commanded the 377th Theater Sustainment Command (TSC) in New Orleans, LA, the largest two – star command in the Department of Defense. There he led a team of 35,580 Soldiers and 1,050 Civilians. The 377th TSC supported numerous contingency operations overseas and domestically during his tenure. This included deployment of thousands of Soldiers to support Middle East operations. He retired as the commander of the 84th Training Command at Ft. Knox, KY where he led a team of 3,500 Soldiers. Major General (Ret.) Ainsworth’s awards include the Distinguished Service Medal, Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal and other awards and medals.

 

He resides in Nashville, Tennessee, with his wife, Susanne. He previously served on the boards of numerous Middle Tennessee service and community organizations. He was a member of the Department of Army Staff, serving on the Army Reserve Forces Policy Committee (ARFPC) and was one of 13 board members of the Army and Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES), a $9 Billion annual revenue entity. He has been a guest speaker at graduate business schools discussing banking/financial considerations as a senior lender during corporate buyouts. He is periodically asked to speak on one of three different topics: Leadership, Geo-Political Economic issues, or European/Middle East military affairs. The speeches are non-political and fact based.
