Digital transformation is ongoing in the payments space creating efficiency and cost savings. Real-time connectivity and instant payments have revolutionized cash management. Bad actors are finding opportunities to profit from the digital environment because of the changes in traditional internal controls. Social engineering, phishing emails, account takeovers, and false vendors are some of the techniques used on unsuspecting employees to scam companies. The presentation will cover scam schemes and how treasury professionals can advocate and leverage user authentication, data intelligence, and the customer experience to mitigate fraud scenarios.
Our speaker will be Valerie Nielsen. She is a Risk Executive with expertise across I Operations, Finance, Incident Response, Fraud Investigations, Financial Crimes, Board Level Communications, Third Party Assurance, Vendor Management, Compliance, and Internal Audit. Her focus is on operations scaling with growth and product development/feasibility. Valerie works with start-up/incubator companies at the University of Chicago’s Polsky Center. She mentors entrepreneurs at Chicago Innovation.
The session agenda:
The presentation will be 45 minutes. The remainder of the session would be open discussion for participants to share their questions to obtain insights they can take back to their teams.
