Presentation:
Mergers and Acquisitions (M&As) as a corporate strategy has been adopted by corporates both at global and domestic level. While global M&As have been active since the 1980s, Indian M&A activity picked up from the late 1990s with the economic reforms and liberalization policies that were initiated in 1991and have been continued till date. M&A has been one of the critical inorganic ways of growth strategy. There are many reasons and synergies associated with the M&A activities. Research in this domain showed mixed results. While M&A provides a positive short-term impact on the financial matrix of the combined entity, post-integration challenges lead to adverse effects and thereby disappoint some of the stakeholders. The success and failure of an M&A deal can be varied based on the type and objective of the deal. There has been a gap in the comprehension of the academic research and practitioners’ way of analysing the performance of a deal and its impacts.
It is in this context that this book attempts to provide both the perspectives wherever needed, it tries to integrate them with theoretical research and practitioners’ views.
