Think Like A Comedian, Act Like A Leader

Did you know that the skills that make stand-up comedians stand out onstage are the same skills that make great leaders stand out? And it doesn't even involve telling jokes!

Studies have shown that there are incredible benefits to using humor in the workplace, so in this session with comedian, consultant, and humor expert David Horning, you will discover how to channel humor in a productive way that uplifts others, deepens connection, improves communication, builds trust and connection, and can set you apart from the competition.

In this session, you will learn:

  • How to reframe the term "humor" in a productive way
  • The scientifically proven benefits of using humor as a leadership tool
  • 7 ways great comedians and leaders think alike without even realizing it
  • 7 quick tips for using these mindsets to reframe and solve problems

David Horning

Like you, leadership expert and comedian David Horning has watched the world undergo years of change over the past 2 years and saw too many leaders fighting to get back to a normal that has long outstayed its welcome.

Why?

Are they worried their supervisory style of "leadership" is losing influence in an employee-driven market?
Are they uncomfortable with making mistakes or missing the mark on new initiatives in the face of change?
Do they think the cultures they've built can't be sustained remotely?

Or is there a deeper story?

Unlike other leadership speakers and consultants, David's 10 years of comedy, speaking, and corporate training experience brings an outside-of-the-box, hands-on approach that is unafraid of asking the challenging questions that help leaders disrupt the status quo to face uncertainty, adversity, and change with a resilient, open mind. We could all use a laugh, so David has worked tirelessly to teach leaders that developing a sense of humor is the secret sauce for building organizations where people WANT to work.

David's approach to his keynotes, training sessions, and consulting conversations has been called "surprisingly relevant," "an invaluable tool," and "an amazing, accurate breath of fresh air," fusing together real-life stories with his sense of humor and conversational style to connect on a deeply human level with audiences from packed conference rooms to one-on-one calls.

As founder of Water Cooler Comedy and creator of the 8-week leadership program “Think Like A Comedian, Act Like A Leader, Create A Stand-Up Culture,” David continues to build top workplaces with energizing and engaging conversations that have been shared with audiences from around the country. His successes include Consumers Credit Union, KPMG, Shurtech Brands, Dolce Hotels, SHRM, DisruptHR, and The Training Associates, to name a few.

Outside of leadership, David has performed at comedy clubs and in comedy festivals across the country, including the New York Comedy Festival. He also produces stand-up comedy showcases for companies and private events, and his newest project, Secret Society Comedy, is helping transform Cleveland into a hub for comedy in the Midwest.

He is currently procrastinating on his first book.
