About Keynote Speakers

Carol Bernard

Carol Bernard serves as Vice President, Commercial Business Development for First American Title National Commercial Services (NCS). She is responsible for building awareness of the team’s strength and depth of experience to prospective clients while adding value to and maintaining and expanding our partnership with existing clients.
Prior to joining First American in 2006, Carol held positions on the fixed income side of the finance industry as Sales and Trading Manager with Toyota Motor Credit Corp. in Torrance, CA and Institutional Sales Manager with American General Corp. in Houston.
Carol is a graduate of Texas A&M University in College Station with a BBA in Finance.
She is active in CREW and has chaired the sponsorship, special events and membership committees. She is a long-term resident of the Houston area and previously served as Treasurer for the Westridge Civic Association. She enjoys spending time in Galveston with her husband Lynn.

Marni Zarin

Marni serves as Senior Underwriting Counsel at First American Title National Commercial Services (NCS) where she underwrites commercial real estate transactions for national commercial projects, including sales, acquisitions, leaseholds, acquisition financing and construction loan transactions. She also trains, mentors, and teaches junior underwriters.
Prior to joining First American Title NCS, Marni was a shareholder in Winstead PC’s Houston office where she represented commercial, retail and multi-family developers, owners, lenders, landlords and tenants in all aspects of commercial real estate development, construction,
financing and investments, including negotiating and drafting financial documents, purchase and sale agreements, real property leases, development and property management agreements, and easement and declaration documents.
Marni is an active member in real estate industry groups, such as ULI and CREW. She also serves on boards and committees of Houston community not for-profit organizations.
