Alternative Assets - Art & Wine.  Investment and financial professionals are often asked about the acquisition, sale and financing of art and wine.  This panel will discuss what are the latest financing and investment issues in Art and Wine and how to best discuss them with officers at your company, investors and clients. This panel will also cover navigating potential risks when transacting in valuable artworks, including addressing provenance issues, best practices when dealing with intermediaries, and interfacing with law enforcement.

Speaker Bios:

Noah Solowiejczyk, Fenwick & West LLP: Noah Solowiejczyk is a partner in Fenwick’s White Collar Defense & Investigations practice. Prior to joining Fenwick, Noah worked at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York for over a decade, where he most recently served as co-chief of SDNY’s Illicit Finance & Money Laundering Unit. In that role, Noah oversaw a team of senior prosecutors focused on major investigations involving the Bank Secrecy Act, money laundering, sanctions, and export control violations. In addition, as one of SDNY’s asset forfeiture coordinators, Noah advised Assistant U.S. Attorneys across SDNY on civil and criminal forfeiture matters, including significant forfeiture actions involving looted art and cultural heritage property.

Wendy Battleson, Bank of America: Wendy Battleson is a Senior Vice President and Private Client Advisor with Bank of America Private Bank in New York.  Wendy has extensive knowledge of the art and luxury markets, enabling clients to combine their passion for collecting with an appreciation for the opportunities these asset classes can provide. In her role at Bank of America, Wendy supports clients in navigating the acquisition financing, curation, intergenerational transfer, or sale of these assets,  incorporating the knowledge of Private Bank specialists, as well as a strong network within the art auction and collecting worlds.  Prior to joining Bank of America Private Bank, Wendy was the Principal of Art Strategy Partners, a consultancy to high-net-worth  individuals, family offices, private equity firms, hedge funds, and institutions, where she oversaw collection management, art  acquisitions and divestments, art finance, legacy planning, art due diligence, business structuring, and art negotiations. Earlier in her career,  Wendy spent more than nine years with Christie’s auction house in New York, London, and Hong Kong, where she served as Head  of Art Finance and Head of Art Transactions.

Moderated by Adele Hogan, Co-Managing Partner at Broadfield: Adele Hogan has over 20 years of experience advising on mergers, securities, restructurings, and governance. She works across the financial services, healthcare, FinTech, and technology sectors with a focus on M&A, capital markets, private equity, restructurings and regulatory matters.
