Presentation: What to know when considering construction projects and how construction & the DC real estate market can impact those decisions.

Speakers: Joe LaFonte, Director/Shareholder – Harvey|Harvey-Cleary Builders and Chris Coccaro, Executive Vice President -Tenant Advisory and Workplace Solutions, Transwestern Real Estate Services.

Will a local Washington area skyline marked by construction cranes continue? Joe LaFonte and Chris Coccaro will give us their insights into the answer to this question. Their pitch will address:


- An overview of the RE market – tenant interiors as well as new construction
- Construction costs and how they have spiked in the past two years
- Product availability and how that is impacting schedules
- Some considerations should one consider embarking on a construction project

Speaker Bios:
Joe LaFonte started with Harvey-Cleary in 2013 and is one of our executive leaders that oversees the Washington, DC office. He has more than 30 years of experience in the construction industry and has worked on many high-end interior projects including law firms, associations and corporate interior projects. Joe also serves on the Board of Directors for the March of Dimes, Executive Leadership for the March for Babies, Financial Chair for The LIDO Civic Association, Membership Committee for ABC, Metro DC Chapter, and our Corporate Training Committee. Joe, along with his wife Virginia, children Cassandra, Cabrina and Joseph, reside in Purcellville, VA, and enjoy vacationing outside of Top Sail, NC.

Chris Coccaro is a highly skilled real estate professional with nearly 20 years of experience with a concentration on Tenant Representation (acquisitions, dispositions, lease negotiations and restructuring). Prior to joining Transwestern, Chris was a Managing Director in Brokerage at JLL Bethesda. Chris has a Bachelor of Arts from Georgetown University and Master of Business Administration from the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland. Chris has earned “Broker of the Year” and “Deal of the Year” recognition from the Commercial Real Estate Brokerage Association of Greater Washington, D.C. He has participated in multiple community organizations, including Make-A-Wish® Mid-Atlantic, LIDO Civic Association’s advisory board and the Catholic Charities 83.33 Society. He is a former guest lecturer at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business.
