Speakers' bios:

Sara DeJay Willis is a Private Wealth Advisor based in Bernstein’s Houston office, where she focuses on managing the complex planning and investment needs of business owners, executives & corporate directors. This includes advising business owners before, during or after a large liquidity event, engaging a high-net worth families around legacy planning, and helping executives dimension their “next chapter” needs while weighing the unique challenges of tax, risk and estate planning. Additionally, Sara’s diverse background has served well in managing defined contribution plans for her corporate clients. Prior to joining Bernstein, Sara was a Property & Casualty Producer for Aon and most recently USI. Here, she partnered with upper middle market companies in the energy / industrial, manufacturing and retail industry. Sara graduated Summa Cum Laude from The University of Texas where she launched a career in politics, first with Governor Perry and following Representative Larry Gonzales. Sara is passionate about helping others find success through value creation. As such, Sara enjoys playing an active role in the community, serving on several professional boards with a specialty in helping executives secure public and private board seats.

Marcellus A. Upshaw is a Private Wealth Advisor based in Bernstein’s Houston office. His practice serves the needs of business owners, executives, and family offices. He consults with individuals and their professional partners in an array of complex investment planning topics and investment strategies. These topics include a multi-disciplinary approach to the unique challenges of minimizing taxes, monetizing and protecting assets, transferring wealth, and addressing family dynamics. Joining Bernstein Private Wealth Management in 2021, Marcellus brings deep experience in the industry having advised private clients at U.S. Trust, Bank of America Private Wealth Management, Huntington Private Bank, and JPMorgan Chase. He received his BS in Sports Management at The Ohio State University and completed Executive Education at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Marcellus is a Certified Private Wealth Advisor® professional, a Certified Exit Planning Advisor, and a member of the Investments & Wealth Institute. He has served as a subject matter expert with contributions on the topics of retirement planning and executive compensation. Outside of Bernstein, Marcellus is passionate about giving back to the community, and focuses his time, talent, and treasure around four core pillars: education, children, poverty alleviation, and sports. He is a finance committee member for the United Way of Greater Houston
