Chapter Description

The FAMILY BUSINESS SIG is composed of Senior Level Executives, CFOs, Controllers, CPAs, various other professionals and outside advisers who have their primary focus and business practice serving Family Owned companies with family in daily management, not family offices.

We endeavor to have monthly Networking and Educational Meetings with guest speakers. The meetings cover themes of interest to privately held or family-owned business executives, who fit the FENG membership profile or role as coach, practitioner or company executive/employee to family owned companies. Meeting themes would cover the following topics with specific impact to family owned companies:

- Governing and advisory boards, including family councils, board charters, by-laws for family managed companies
- Genepool and Leadership Development including compensation, synthetic equity
- Generational transitions, Buy-sell agreements, Funding family ownership succession
- Financial and Operational Tools for efficiency and effectiveness; Surveys. Assessments
- Legal, taxation, reporting, compliance and legislative issues
- Qualified and non qualified benefit plans; ESOPs, pensions, 401-K, IRA
- Human resource management and onboarding/terminating family members
- New trends/issues impacting privately held companies
- Trends with M&A, Gov't Contracting, emerging industries, business development, long range planning
